Why plant fibers?  Why not wool?  Why not acrylic? Our goal is to have as many people participate as possible. So no one will be left out because of fiber choice. However, we would like to keep the weight of the finished cozy as light and consistent as possible without resorting to using fibers derived from petroleum products. Plant fibers are lighter than wool and are biodegradable. We like that.
